Ready to tap into something truly sweet?
Celebrate the rich, sticky-sweet history of St. Johnsbury, once dubbed the “Maple Center of the World”—at the beloved Kingdom Maple Festival on Saturday, April 18, 2026.

But don’t just come for the syrup…
A Weekend-Long Maple Menu Takeover
In the days leading up to the festival, St. J’s restaurants go all in on maple, and not in a subtle drizzle-on-your-pancakes kind of way; it’s more like a full-blown maple explosion.
Local eateries are partnering with nearby sugar makers to create dishes and drinks that highlight Vermont’s most iconic ingredient. You’ll find maple worked into everything: cocktails, coffee, barbecue, desserts, and even unexpected savory dishes.
Get ready to dig into…
- Maple crème brûlée and maple rum BBQ wings
- Maple lattes and maple affogatos
- Maple bacon everything (because of course)
- And yes, maple creemees
Think of it as a culinary scavenger hunt where every stop tastes better than the last.

On Saturday, Start Your Day with Pancakes (Obviously)
There’s only one proper way to kick off a maple festival: with a plate full of pancakes.
Head to the St. Johnsbury House between 8 and 10:30 am for the annual all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast, hosted by Meals on Wheels. It’s donation-based, so you can eat well and do some good.
Expect fluffy pancakes, local maple syrup, and all the classic sides, plus the cozy, community feel Vermont does so well.
Sweet Street Fair: The Heart of the Festival

From 10 am to 3 pm, Railroad Street transforms into a lively Sweet Street Fair, featuring more than 50 vendors.
Wander between booths selling local maple syrup, maple candy, freshly prepared foods, baked goods, handmade crafts, and maple-inspired art.
There’s live music throughout the day, with bands providing the perfect soundtrack while you snack your way down the street.
And don’t miss the Maple Syrup Contest at noon, where some of Vermont’s best sugar makers compete for top honors. It’s serious business… but in a very Vermont kind of way.
Beyond the Street Fair

One of the best parts of the Kingdom Maple Festival is how it spills out across town. You’ll find smaller events throughout St. Johnsbury, including:
- A Winter Farmers Market featuring local produce, crafts, and maple goodies
- A maple-themed listening party hosted by Vermont Folklife, sharing stories and sounds from sugaring season
- A meet-the-artist open house showcasing local creative work
- A classic Vermont-style yard sale and bake sale benefiting local veterans
The entire town is throwing a party, and you’re invited!
Planning Your Visit
St. Johnsbury is located in Vermont’s Northeast Kingdom, a region known for its gorgeous scenery, cottage industries, and strong sense of community.
Early spring is sugaring season, so it’s the perfect time to visit. Expect a mix of lingering winter and mud season, which means pack your big boots, your winter jacket, and a t-shirt, just in case.
Whether you’re a die-hard maple fan (aren’t we all?) or just in it for the pancakes, the Kingdom Maple Festival is your one-stop shop for sweet treats, Vermont-made treasures, and an unforgettable Vermont experience.
